What will the exam be like? 

Exam board: AQA 

Assessment: 2 Examinations 

Paper 1 

• 1 hour 45 minutes 
• 80 marks (40 for reading and 40 for writing) 
• 50% of GCSE grade 

Paper 2 

• 1 hour 45 minutes 
• 80 marks (40 for reading and 40 for writing) 
• 50% of GCSE grade 

Spoken Language Endorsement: 

Examined in Year 9. A 3-minute speech about a topic of your choice. This assesses your ability to present a speech, your use of Standard English and your ability to respond to questions.

Whilst we provide copies of the texts for students to use in class, we would strongly advise that you purchase your own copy to bring to each lesson to use for annotations and revision:
