Assessment:

2 examinations 

Paper 1 - Investigating a Small Business (theme 1) 

  • 1 hour 45 minutes 
  • 90 marks 
  • 50% of GCSE grade 

Paper 2 - Building a Business (theme 2)  

  • 1 hour 45 minutes 
  • 90 marks 
  • 50% of GCSE grade 

Topics include types of markets, market research, calculating profits, managing cash flow, business ethics, organisational structures, the marketing mix, recruitment, motivation and training employees, globalisation and International Trade.  

Both papers will consist of calculations, multiple-choice, short-answer and extended-writing questions. Calculators may be used in the examinations.

In order to be successful in GCSE business studies lessons students will need:
