What will the exam be like?  

Exam board:   

NCFE CACHE Level 1/2 V Cert Technical Award in Child Development and Care in Early Years  

Assessment:   

One examination and one Non-Examination Assessment (NEA)  

Paper 1 – Synoptic Assessment paper – Child care and development 0-5 years  

• 1 hour 30 minutes  

• 80 marks  

• 50% of final grade  

Non-examined assessment  

• 14 hours in class  

• 92 marks  

• 50% of final grade  

• There are 6 tasks in which candidates are required to write reports, plans or evaluations of child-centred scenarios such as care routines, play and activities to support the child, expectations of the early years practitioner and the importance of observations in early years childcare.

There is no specific specialist equipment required for the Child Development and Care course.
