Under 14s County School Games Cycling Finals
Posted on: 09/07/2018Having won the West Oxon cycling competition, The Henry Box School Mountain Biking team took on the other top schools in Oxfordshire in the Go Ride Cycling event. Special mentions go to James Brown who came 3rd in his major final. Also, the girls team, who topped the podium in the qualifying round, all managing to make the major final.
The relay race was a success for The Henry Box School; with the team managing to grab a respectable second place, narrowly missing out on victory.
Highlights of the day include watching the opening ceremony of the School Games with some amazing footballing skills and an inspiring talk by a British Paralympic Basketball player that lost a leg after getting run over by a train. Well done to Alex Wells and Sophie Crichton for continuing their ride in spite of many mechanical issues and Alex, after having to swap bikes, looking like he was on a tricycle!
Well done to all that competed and thank you to Mr Gilkes and Stuart from Witney Mountain Biking Club for taking everyone and training us up.
