The Henry Box School is very proud to announce that our history team have achieved the The Historical Association ‘Gold Quality Mark’ in recognition of the quality of our history curriculum and the high standard of teaching. Importantly, The Henry Box School is one of only 41 secondary schools in the country to hold this award and the first in Oxfordshire. This award is nationally recognised and saw the school go through a self-assessment, rigorous audit and a visit by an assessor from the Historical Association. During the visit they met with a range of staff and students from year 7 to 13. The assessor said that ‘In the lessons observed learning was challenging and students had risen to this challenge with enthusiasm. The high levels of engagement and enjoyment show that the curriculum successfully balances the interests of students and the need to develop historical thinking…’
