Sporting achievements for Oxfordshire Judo Club sisters
Posted on: 17/10/2018Many congratulations to Sophie and Fleur Edwards for their fabulous achievements - your commitment to training has certainly paid off!
With thanks to Jonathan Gerrans of Oxfordshire Judo Clubs for this report.
Sophie and Fleur both entered their first Open International Judo Championships in September. This was organised through the British Judo Council. Throughout the various categories there were representatives from The Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Ireland.
Both Girls fought extremely well, the only downside being that both being the same weight meant they ended up coming up against each other. Big sister tends to get the advantage!
However they beat the rest of the opposition and Sophie came away with her second Gold of the year and Fleur a well deserved 3rd place Bronze.
I was extremely proud of their performance and so glad they can now say they have represented Oxfordshire and GBR.
It is always great to hear news of the sporting successes that our students achieve outside of school. We would love to know more about the regional, national or international sporting achievements of our Henry Box students. (Please email the school office, FAO Miss Jackson in the PE Department, if you have sporting news to share)
