Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework

The Henry Box School Student Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework

What is Mental Health and Wellbeing?

Mental wellbeing describes your mental state - how you are feeling and how well you can cope with day-to-day life.

Our mental wellbeing is dynamic. It can change from moment to moment, day to day, month to month or year to year.

If you have good mental wellbeing you are able to:

  • feel relatively confident in yourself and have positive self-esteem
  • feel and express a range of emotions
  • build and maintain good relationships with others
  • feel engaged with the world around you
  • live and work productively
  • cope with the stresses of daily life
  • adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty

What does The Henry Box School offer students in order to support positive mental health and wellbeing?

  • Designated Student Mental Health and Wellbeing School Leader
  • Structured staff and peer mentoring through vertical tutoring
  • Restructured and dedicated student support and family support teams
  • 13 trained designated safeguarding leaders and deputies

5 Steps to Support Positive Mental Health and Wellbeing

CONNECT – nurture face to face relationships and friendships

BE ACTIVE – be outside, away from screens, moving around

TAKE NOTICE AND BE MINDFUL – give yourself time to think about your thoughts and feelings; be grateful and proud of your achievements

KEEP LEARNING – learn something new to keep your mind active and give yourself a purpose

GIVE TO OTHERS – smile, volunteer, make a drink, share a compliment, ask someone how their day was
